Joaquin has one of the best smiles you will encounter in Montero. He is a boy who loves life and who wants to share all his joy with you. Whether it is his artwork from school, the fruit that grows on his family's property, or the ducks he and his father are raising, you are quickly reminded of the simple things that we often take for granted.
This is the Joaquin we know since the RVF began to take care of him. Before receiving adequate treatment for his seizures, Joaquin could hardly talk or walk. He was constantly bombarded with uncontrolled brain activity. Now, with good control, he can attend school (which he does religiously) and can play a mean game of soccer with his friends. His mother is always tearful when she expresses her gratitude for the help she receives in caring for her son.
